It's coming!!!
Yes, I know that this week’s article might make me a little unpopular, but it’s time to talk about it. Yes, the holiday season is coming! I will challenge you with one thing this week-that is to add your fitness planning to your list of holiday priorities. There are so many things that demand our time and energy as this time of year arrives. Make your activity just as important as all else. Better yet, make it a part of all else. One of my favourite things about Christmas time is that we get together with friends and family that we don’t see too often during the year. This year, I will see how I can fit some more movement into these get-togethers.
How about you? What are your holiday traditions? Are they active vs. seated? Focused around social connection or food and alcohol? Could you be the one to suggest that you get together for a skate at the local rink instead of another dinner out? Or meet for a hike and a coffee rather than out for wine and treats? Our do some volunteer work as a team?
Its so easy to have this time of year end up out of control and overwhelming, leaving us feeling even further behind our goals when we hit the new year.
So, today, take a few minutes, make a list of the people you’d like to get together with, and/or the activities in which you know you want to participate, and see where you can get these two lists to cross paths.
I’d love to hear how you’re planning on keeping activity promises to yourself this season! I know your ideas with help others.
With kindness and encouragement to get moving,
Deanna
