Stop the Spread!
As so many people are struggling with some nasty cold and flu bugs this time of year, I thought I’d share some thoughts around prevention, care and fitness. What’s the best way to stay well, and/or get well? In addition to the thoughts listed below, consider the other things that help our body battle germs: get enough SLEEP, drink your WATER, be ACTIVE, manage STRESS and EAT WELL. Helping your body be in optimum condition will likely help us bounce back more quickly if we are to get sick, if not avoid getting sick all together.
Consider the following tips to help minimize the spread of flu and other air-borne viruses:
-cover your mouth and nose when you sneeze or cough, using your sleeve. If you use a tissue, throw it away after use
-clean your hands often. Wash your hands with soap and warm water
-Wipe down your work area daily, especially if it’s a shared space
-Don’t share eating utensils, drinking glasses, towels, personal items
-If possible, avoid close contact with people who are sick
Finally, I know some “fitness people” like to try to “sweat it out” when they are sick. Remember this-if you are sick, your body needs to direct its energy to fighting germs, not recovering from exercise. That and you are likely to spread your germs to others as you are “sweating it out”. Stay home, rest and when you are feeling better, get back to it!
Be well and take good care,
