2021, 2.0?

Isn’t it interesting how a year can feel so long AND seem to go by so fast, all at once? As we’ve hit the end of June and are rolling into the month of July, I invite you to reflect on how the first half of the year went. Did you have some goals you were working on? How did they turn out?

One of the things that people sometimes share when they reflect on time gone by, is how disappointed they are that they didn’t make the most of the time. Does that ever happen to you? You realize a month has gone by and you feel like you have little to show for it?

Or maybe the opposite is true….you have had the most productive, goal-getting time frame and are feeling awesome!

Well, as we move into the second half of 2021, let’s either make sure that you make the most of the rest of this year, AND hit all the goals you’re after, or keep that great momentum from the first half of the year.

How? Well, here’s are some thoughts:

Step 1) What do you want? If you’re unclear on the goal, how can you take the appropriate steps, and how do you know if you’ve made the most of the time? So, what do you want? Don’t go to #2 until you’re clear here.

And if you’re not sure where to begin here, I always start with a review of the 6 Components of Wellness, analyzing how I feel I am doing in each area, and then defining what optimum wellness in each component would look like. The 6 areas? Physical, emotional, spiritual, financial, professional and relationship wellness.

Step 2) Think about either, why didn’t you accomplish your goals for the first half of the year, and reflect on what the obstacles were that arose. Or, for those of you who did hit your goals, why and how did you do that….that’ll likely work again.

If you’ve discovered obstacles that arose, how can you work around or reframe these to move forward more successfully? Maybe ask yourself questions like: “when have I faced a challenge like this before?". “What did I do to get past that challenge"?”

And if you’re feeling stuck, that is where coaching can help. I know after reflecting on the above questions, and still feeling stuck that is when I reach out to my coach.

Step 3) Create plan. Start with the 6 month goal and work backwards. To be where you want to be in 6 months from now, what are all of the things that would need to happen? And then, section “all of the things” into step-by-step items, plugging those in monthly, weekly and daily.

Step 4) Focus on enjoying the process. Don’t delay your happiness until you’ve reached the 6 month goal. That’s 6 months of missed happiness. Celebrate and enjoy along the way. Choose to be happy today, AND to celebrate when you accomplish that 6 month goal.

Even if you’re not where you thought you’d be at this point in the year, no worries! There’s lots of time left in “this game”! Don’t waste another second….get planning for a successful 2021, 2.0, and please let me know if you need any assistance along the way!

Keep being awesome!
