Feeling Overwhelmed?

With all that is going on throughout our homes, cities, country, and the world, there could be any number of reasons we're feeling overwhelmed.

And gosh, I wish I could help solve those problems for each and every one of you.

Of course, I can't do that, but what I can do, is offer three things:

1) Encourage you to rest. This begins with noticing we need rest. Are you feeling sad, frustrated, low on patience and motivation? These can all be signs that we're in need of rest. And what type of rest is needed, is really individual. Many of us need more sleep to be sure. But that's not all. We need time for our emotional self and spiritual self to recharge. What do you do that helps to refresh? A hobby? Physical activity? Time with a friend?

2) Encourage you to reach out for help and support if you need it. For example, if that above-mentioned sadness is lasting, perhaps a connection with a counselor is needed. You can often start with check-in at your family doctor and ask if he/she/they have a counselor on their referral team.

3) A few tips to help you carve out some rest time:
>> What can you let go of right now? What are some tasks that do not actually need to be done? There is often "busy-work' on our to-do list that we do not really need to see to. Remove those from your list

>> What can you reschedule for another day? There are many things on our to-do list that we do need to do, but perhaps not right now. Is there anything you can shift to another day?

>> Is there anything you can do differently to open rest time on a more permanent scale? Ordering a meal-kit service perhaps to take some of the load off? Or re-organizing your schedule to streamline "like" activities for more effective use of time?

Whatever the case, all of the above starts with the mindset that you need to rest, and that is when you grow stronger, physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

As you know, I am a coach, not a counselor (see last week's Fresh Friday for the difference!), and would be happy to chat with you to assist with any of the above within the coaching scope of practice.

Always feel free to book a call if I can be of help: https://www.deannalangfordcoaching.com/booking
